Service Description

i) Helps prevent rabies, a serious and almost always fatal infection that can be transmitted through an infected animal’s bite, scratch or saliva. ii) Suitable for children and adults who need protection before possible exposure, including travellers, animal handlers and people working with animals. iii) Before exposure, vaccination usually involves 2 doses on Day 0 and Day 7. A third dose on Day 21 or 28 may be recommended depending on the individual’s risk. iv) After an animal bite or scratch, vaccination should be started as soon as possible. The number of doses depends on the type of exposure and whether the person was previously vaccinated. v) Immediate wound washing and medical assessment are essential. Rabies immunoglobulin may also be required for severe exposures. vi) The doctor will confirm the appropriate schedule and treatment plan during the appointment.
