Chickenpox (Varicella) Vaccine

Service Description

i) Helps prevent chickenpox, a highly contagious infection that causes an itchy, blister-like rash and fever. ii) Reduces the risk of severe illness and complications, including skin infections and pneumonia. iii) Suitable for children from 12 months old, teenagers and adults who are not already immune to chickenpox. iv) Two doses are recommended. Children aged 12 months–12 years: at least 3 months apart. Ages 13 years and above: 4–8 weeks apart. v) Doctor assessment is required to check previous vaccination, chickenpox history and suitability. This live vaccine should not be given during pregnancy.
